My name is Elisabeth Borregaard. I am 30 years and the founder of IBSAG The international boarding school for scouts and gameplay. The idea for IBSAG occurred in 2013 when I became a bigger part of the Danish boarding schools world. In the summer of 2013 I started  on the free teacher school to be a boarding school teacher. When I was a teannager I went to two boarding schools and later on I have been  working in a three-week internship at two different boarding schools as well as working a year on a third one. Here I fall in love with the idea of the danish boarding schools, as well as the principle that teachers are social with students, on a completely different level than you are in a public school. For me the boarding school has always been a better alternative to get a good education. Denmark has this amazing education system that we do not share with others .In Denmark, there exist around 260 boarding schools, while in the rest of the world there exist only 1 in south korea. This seems to me that it should be chance, the boarding school principle should be spread to the world, and that's why I've been working on this project over the last 10 years

 

A boarding school year can do an awful lot for the individual, both academically, socially and in personal development. There is an expression around the boarding schools who say that one year at the school is the same as seven human years in maturity. Personally, I discovered how much a year could do.When I started in the ninth grade at bindernaes boarding school, I was very professional and socially weak. I had been bullied throughout my elementary school, so therefore I had no friends and was really restrained. Due to bullying, I had also not had the inclination to learn, so I was academically at a third grade level. When the year was over I had friends, I was extremely outgoing, and I was academically brought up to the eighth grade level. In tenth grade I went to holmstrup boarding school where I again moved from an eighth grade level to an academic level. In two years I had professionally moved from a third grade level to an academic level. This was only due to the fact that I went to the boarding school, and the teachers and the whole boarding school system motivated me to  develop personally. This had never happened in officiel primary school where they do not have the skills to move a student in such an important  professional direction

 

But why an international boarding school?. By doing school international it makes a larger target audience where you can get students. It will be a more global community and beyond that you put focus on differences as well as similarities in the world.By having an international boarding school, young people will quickly find out that we are not as different as we think.Then the young people could be helping to shape the world and the world's population to become a more peaceful place in the future

 

When you look at today's youth, you can see that they begin to fall through the system, we can see it on the pisa tests but also on students ' reaction to the teaching. Young people need alternative teaching methods rather than the standardized educational form. Here it is I believe that Scouting organisations have understood learning properly, we need to get back to nature, back to the ancient times of learning by doing. In addition to that we have to go back to the old standards, then we must also focus on new education. Our education is our future, it is with this we get formed as future leaders. And who better than the Scouts to form future leaders. if you ask someone in a high position of power, many of them will say that they've got their leadership qualities from Scouting. so why not educate the future leaders to become good leaders. At the same time there are Scout groups throughout the whole world, therefore, from the outset, we will have a common position despite the fact that we come from many different cultures. Therefore, it makes sense to do a Scout boarding school.

 

By forming gameplay in the form of play and games as a teaching method in conjunction with nature, we formed a young person who can think out of the box.

The future need for individuals who can think out of the box, this is the way forward. future workers and managers must be able to think in terms of new courses so we can optimize the world, that is why this project is so important.

 

The reason I have chosen the project to first be creative in Denmark is that the school system already exists here, so it will be easier to change how we see the boarding school education. When we have incorporated our way of thinking about education in Denmark, we can show the rest of the world our positive results, and make more of this kind of boarding school around different parts of the world. When we will start spreading this  specific kind of boarding school it will make most sense to start spreading the message to Europe, since there already is a global community and support through europe. When the schools somewhere in Europe are up and running  we can start spreading this school form  to the rest of the world. It is my vision for the future that at a minimum there is an IBSAG on each continent, but it is better if it is in each country.  This will take many years to perform but by spreading the words of knowledge by doing it our way, nothing will be impossible.
