Reasons for the establishment of the school

​

• The international boarding school for scouts and game play (IBSAG) are created by our founder Elisabeth Borregaard from Denmark.The idea for IBSAG first occurred in 2013 and has ever seens been an ongoing process. The boarding schools (Efterskolerne) have always been a better alternative to get a good education. Denmark has this amazing education system that we do not share with others. Therefore is the school's vision to upgrade the boarding school education with new alternative ideas. The vision is to first start an international boarding school for scouts and game play in Denmark and then afterwards we would like to spread this kind of education to Europe and then the rest of the world

 

• But why an international scout boarding school?. By making the school international it gets a larger target audience. The school will be a more global community and beyond that put a focus on differences as well as similarities in the world. Around the world we see more fighting than we see peace. But by having an international boarding school, young people will quickly find out that we are not as different as we think. The young people are the future of tomorrow and by showing them the similarities despite of age, gender, nationality and religion they will be able to shape the world to become a more peaceful place in the future

 

• When you look at today's youth, you can see that they begin to fall through the system. We can see it on the pisa tests but also on students ' reaction to the teaching. Young people need alternative teaching methods rather than the standardized educational form. This is exactly what the Scouting organizations have understood. We need to get back to nature, back to the ancient times of learning by doing. In addition to that we have to go back to the old standards, then we must also focus on a good education. 

 

• Our education is our future, it is with this we get formed as future leaders. And who is better than the Scouts to form future leaders.  If you look at the  static viewing, the world's good leaders  as well as people in high positions 90% of them have either been a scout or are still a scout. Ask someone in a high position of power, many of them will say that they've got their leadership qualities from Scouting. so why not educate the future leaders to become good leaders. At the same time there are Scout groups throughout the whole  world, therefore, we will have a common position despite the fact that we come from many different cultures. This is why the profile of the school is both international and for scouts.

 

• We need to be out in the wild and really have things between our hands. It's also important that we do not forget that young people actually still are children, therefore we need to have gameplay as a teaching method. We must have it in the way that we have gameplay, both physically but also sedentary. It is a fact that today's young people sit a lot on their electronic devices and play video games and zap around between different media.The young have created a  zap culture where they constantly must have new things going on to satisfy the need to use the creative brain. Instead of putting an end to their creative development we should instead encourage it. 

 

• A boarding school year can do an awful lot for the individual, both academically, socially and in personal development. There is an expression around the boarding schools who say that one year at a boarding school is the same as seven human years in maturity.We need young people who are more mature but at the same time creative with the ability to think out of the box. The future is in great need of individuals who can think out of the box, this is the way forward. Future workers and managers must be able to think in terms of new ways so we can optimize the world. This is why the international boarding school (IBSAG) is so important. And also why our vision is to make many schools like this around the world.
