Camp in Uganda

IBSAG (The international boarding school for scouts and gameplay) is the main organization in collaboration with Mercy scouts from Uganda by setting up an international boarding school scout camp in Uganda.

The camp will take place from December 2024- January 2025

IBSAG is an association that is about to set up an international boarding school for scouts in Denmark, where play and games are the focus as a different way of learning by doing. The school follows the Danish boarding school reform, which was founded by Grundtvig and Kold and is expected to start in August 2025

IBSAG's Founder Elisabeth Borregaard has collaborated with Mercy scouts from Uganda to create this camp. All activities for the camp have been done on a voluntary basis by IBSAG founders and some of the volunteers from Uganda and Nepal who will be at the camp. The camp is international and therefore everything will be in English. There will at teh moment be an opportunity for 40 students between 10-19 years old from both Uganda and other countries to participate in the camp, this number might be higher if we get more volunteers and money. So that the opportunity for the camp can be given to as many people as possible regardless of financial condition, we have chosen that the students do not have to pay for the camp itself, they only have to pay for the transport there, and visa and vaccination if this is needed. The camp start a wednesday and end a wednesday, Therefore our weeks count from wednesday to wednesday.

It will be a school scouting camp, so everyday the students/ scouts will have one subject to follow with funny game based activities. There will be 6 meals a day, 3 normal meals and 3 snack meals, to keep a steady blodsugar. And then we will also do other parts at the camps souch as...

The purpose of the camp

  • To spread the word about the Danish boarding schools.

  • To spread the word about IBSAG as a boarding school, so that hopefully students from Africa can come to Denmark and study in the future.

  • To show how much you can learn by "Learning By Doing", scouting activities and from playful activities.

  • To give more students from Uganda/Africa the opportunity for a better education.

  • To give even the poorest in Uganda/Africa a unique education opportunity.

  • Getting a international view and network

  • Give certificates to voulenteers and diplomas for the students for attending the camp

We are therefore looking for people, companies,  associations and organizations who want to support this camp, either be a volunteer or financially support the camp through donations of materials. Or money support. The money goes to food, accommodation in a tent at Sipi waterfall, toilets and washing facilities, transport, visas and vaccinations for the two volunteers from abroad. As well as Materials we do not get sponsored or donated. The volunteers do not receive a salary, but are covered for the expenses they have to be volunteers. Most volunteers are from Uganda and therefore only need transport to the camp. But we are two from other countries, maybe more will come. We have IBSAG's founder Elisabeth Borregaard from Denmark and we have one of IBSAG's teachers from Nepal.

f there is money left when the camp is over, the remaining money goes to local scout groups or schools in the nearby area in Uganda.
